Originally from Wisconsin, Garrett moved to New York to pursue music production, but a chance encounter with charcoal and a pad of paper sparked an unexpected journey.

 

His first piece—a figurative Charcoal—sold to a gallery owner in NYC’s art district, setting in motion a new creative path. He began hosting his own salon-style shows in Greenwich Village and the Lower East Side, selling a piece at each event, which encouraged him to take his art more seriously.

 

For several years, he sold primarily via word-of-mouth before opening 1MAN, his home gallery in Provincetown, MA.

 

The reception has been overwhelmingly positive, with visitors drawn to the gallery’s distinct departure from the region’s traditional coastal themes. 

 

While charcoal remains a staple of his figurative pieces, many of Garrett’s acrylic paintings celebrate the Biophilic - magnifying overlooked elements of nature - pinecones, blueberries, honey bees - transforming the mundane into the magical.

 

Taboo and sexuality run through much of his art - exploring erotic themes and the power of suggestion.

 

Entirely self-taught, Garrett approaches his art with raw instinct and curiosity. From New York to London, to a Venetian Palace in Montenegro, his pieces hang in private collections around the world.
