Charcoal
This densely packed composition confronts the onlooker with a mass of figures, drawn from candid photographs taken on the streets of New York City. Figures overlap, collide, and emerge only partially, evoking the physical and psychological overwhelm of public space.
No single protagonist dominates; instead, attention ricochets across a field of expressions marked by strain, vigilance, and fatigue.
Charcoal is pushed, smeared, and reworked to emphasize abrasion and density. Lines overlap and double back, producing distortions that echo the instability of fleeting encounters.
Here the street is rendered as a site of endurance rather than passage.
