Stay Where I Can See You fixes the viewer with a gaze that suggests despondency and vulnerability, as if seeing and being seen are acts of mutual unease. Fluid watercolor softens the body and background, allowing color to seep and bruise the surface, while charcoal and ink present boundaries within which the woman exists.
 
The tension between control and collapse animates the piece: the smeared lipstick and fractured linework speak to a quiet disarray, yet the eyes remain intensely focused, anchoring the composition.
