Pollinator: Ice Queen
Pollinator: Ice Queen
4 x 3'
Acrylic on Canvas
Ice Queen opens onto an expansive field of blooms that swell and overlap, filling the surface with plush forms. The petals spill outward in rhythmic layers, creating a sense of abundance and gentle motion.
Nestled within this profusion, a small bee drifts almost out of sight. Its warm, golden body is cushioned by the surrounding blossoms, not threatened by their scale but held by it. The bee appears less like a worker in motion and more like a body at rest—lost in the blooms the way one sinks into a supremely comfortable chair.
Rather than depicting struggle, the painting suggests ease and belonging. The bee’s near disappearance becomes an image of contentment, where labor pauses and the natural world offers softness, immersion, and reprieve.
