OZEMPIC: The Octopus

51 x 44"

Charcrylic

A domestic interior becomes a site of distortion and disfigurement. The figure at center is caught mid-action—pouring, gripping, measuring—yet nothing here behaves as it should. The body is segmented, bent, and exaggerated, pulled between indulgence and control. A tape measure becomes a weapon as food and pharmaceuticals circulate freely, suggesting a ritual of self-surveillance masquerading as care.

Rendered largely in Charcoal, the figure’s face slips toward caricature: eyes bulging, smile strained, pleasure and panic occupying the same expression. The surrounding objects—soda bottles, processed food, bright packaging—hover like props in a performance of consumption.

OZEMPIC: The Octopus stages the absurd violence of contemporary self-optimization. The body is treated as both problem and project, something to be disciplined, medicated, and reshaped while remaining constantly available for pleasure. The kitchen becomes a theater where excess and shame rehearse endlessly, feeding each other without resolution.
