Agent Orange: What I Did To Deserve This

12 x 24"

Acrylic on Canvas

A child sits in quiet suspension, eyes widened not by curiosity but by calculation. The gaze feels prematurely adult—searching, measuring, already assuming blame. The oversized head and fragile body exaggerate imbalance, suggesting a consciousness forced to grow faster than the body that holds it.

The paint is worked unevenly, thick in places and rubbed thin in others, as if protection were applied inconsistently. Nothing in the image points to a clear cause of harm. There is no visible aggressor, no event to reference, only aftermath.

The title gives voice to a logic children often adopt when damage has no explanation. Rather than asking what happened, the child asks what did I do?
